Overview

Blood clots cause 1 in 4 deaths worldwide — yet global awareness of thrombosis remains dangerously low. The International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH) launched World Thrombosis Day (WTD) to change that, creating a platform to empower healthcare professionals with research-vetted resources and rally partners around a unified, life-saving message.

We partnered with ISTH to build and execute a global awareness campaign from the ground up — fusing strategy, creative execution, and digital infrastructure to make thrombosis a universally recognized public health concern.

Our Process

Before anything was designed or built, we worked closely with ISTH to develop a messaging framework that would resonate across audiences, borders, and channels ensuring the campaign had both clarity and lasting impact.

From that foundation, we brought the campaign to life across multiple touchpoints. We began with site map creation, low-fidelity wireframes to map the structure and user flow before committing to visual direction, allowing for early feedback and alignment across stakeholders. We then built the World Thrombosis Day website, which served as the central resource hub for blood clot awareness and evolved through three distinct phase variations over the course of the campaign. Throughout, we used A/B testing to evaluate performance, refine messaging, and ensure every decision was backed by real user behavior. We launched social media pages and developed a comprehensive Social Media Toolkit, giving healthcare professionals and stakeholders everything they needed to spread the message in their own networks.

Conclusion

This is what it looks like when creative work carries real stakes. Over the course of the campaign, World Thrombosis Day grew from an emerging awareness initiative into a global movement — engaging nearly 3,000 campaign partners and more than doubling the number of participating countries over ten years.

The work was recognized with awards, but the impact goes far beyond that. By building a system that was strategic, scalable, and designed to grow, we helped turn a critical public health conversation into one the world is finally having.
